Coaching Career
Started my coaching career in 1993 whilst I was running a successful boys club, Bedlington Juniors. I took my first coaching badge in 1993 and was then employed by Newcastle Football Development Scheme, working with grass roots and advanced players.
In 1997 I moved on to work with Newcastle United Football in the Community as a head coach. In the same year, I left boys club football to set-up and co-ordinate the Newcastle United Academy Development Centres. These Centres were designed for players aged 6-14, who had shown potential but were in need of extra coaching to progress them into the academy.
In 2000, I took up a role as the under 9 head coach, which I operated alongside the development centre. In 2004, I was promoted within the Community Scheme to Development Officer, where I co-ordinated all coaching, events, course structure and employment of coaches.
